Technique: Long exposure combined with movements in the focal plane

A solo mountain trip can produce many sensations, but for me the most powerful has always been the reunion with myself. With your ideas and thoughts, your fears and limitations.

This is how this photograph developed, on a trip to the Sierra Nevada, Venezuela, when facing my limitations on the route to the second highest peak in Venezuela and not being able to overcome exhaustion and altitude sickness, I had to separate from my group and spend the night in a beautiful place called Laguna La Coromoto.

Early in the morning and even with the frustrating feeling attacking my head, I realized that I was not alone, a solitary white heron was feeding at the edge of the lagoon.

I prepared my camera to photograph it and by mistake the flash was activated, I scared it, as I could in seconds I deactivated the flash and continued taking pictures of its movements until the heron raised in flight.

The result is here, "Drawing with light on heron and islet" for me represents the peace and quiet that you need for reflection and get into the action again.

P.S. A year later I reached Humboldt Peak, Venezuela.
